Founder, Coach Samantha taylor
Samantha was a competition air rifle shooter growing up and her love for shooting sports inspired her to share her passion and become a coach. Her enlisted military time was served as a flight medic and commissioned officer time as a registered nurse. She is a nurse and a massage therapist specializing in sports, injury management, and rehabilitation. She has also earned an MBA and is entertaining becoming an instructor.
Samantha holds certifications as an NRA Range Safety Officer, NRA Level 2 Rifle Coach, USA Shooting Advanced Rifle Coach Candidate. Samantha was the head coach for the Eagle River High School Rifle Team before opening a shooting club for the Eagle River and Chugiak communites. She is stepping away from coaching to focus on family, but hopes to return someday.
Coach Eric Taylor
Eric is a retired USAF/ANG Pararescueman with vast knowledge and experience with many different firearms. He currently works for the Anchorage Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic and is on the tactical EMS team.
He is an NRA Level 1 Rifle Coach and is currently working on his air pistol coaching certification through the USA Shooting Coach Academy. Eric was the rifle team assistant coach at Eagle River High School for two years prior to coaching at Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club.
Coach Mark Burch
Mark was a competitive rifle shooter in college and picked the sport back up again later in life. He says it keeps him humble as a coach. Mark is an NRA Level II Rifle Coach, NRA Range Safety Officer and NRA certified firearms instructor in several disciplines.
After serving as a youth group leader at his church for many years, Mark redirected that experience and energy into coaching. He served four years as assistant coach at Chugiak High School before taking on the head coach responsibilities at Eagle River High School Rifle Team.
COACH RICK GAY
Rick has been an active coach for shooting sports for young athletes since 2014 when his daughter started shooting for Chugiak High School. He is a former assistant coach at Borealis Bullseyes and in 2022, he started coaching at the Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club. He holds certifications as a NRA Level 1 coach and has coached many athletes to compete at the state, regional, and national levels. We are very lucky to have him on board to mentor to our youth athletes.
